Making A Million From Sports Betting And Trading – February Results

Making A Million

Last month wasn’t the best start to the year as a very small profit was eeked out by the end of January.

It was nice to start a new month, February was a month where I was determined to make some progress towards the £1,000,000 profit target.

Lets take a look at how things went.

Sports Betting and Trading Challenge

Matched Betting – Sports Offers, Arbitrage, Value Betting

Its been a really good month from a value betting perspective.

Again very little matched betting going apart from the Bet365 inplay offer.

I did ramp up my sports arbitrage betting this month hammering a Mr Green account.

Didn’t land any 2ups with Bet365 which are always a good earner.

In February there were 348 matched betting offers and value bets.

A total profit of £2023 was made.

On to the casino results.

Got to admit this month I to start to feel quite jaded about grinding out casino offers.

It just becomes pretty mindless and unfulfilling when you do it day after especially when you go through tough periods.

On the flip side though you can still a get a decent hourly return. There are people in this world  doing hard labour for much much less and I am/was probably being a bit of a pussy.

Imagine telling some poor guy working in North Korean labour camp about feeling jaded making £25+ an hour playing casino games.

That thought quickly puts things in perspective.

In February I did 256 offers.

A total profit of £1192 was made.

Betting And Trading Results - June Report

Sports Betting Results

Sports Betting Results

Very low volume of sports bets this month.

Which was probably a combination of being unwell for a few weeks and the fact that I can’t seem to turn this bad run around at the moment.

Only 11 bets were made in February for a total loss of -£57.

Trade On Sports

Coming up to nearly six months with the Trade On Sports service now.

Its a service that I like but my results haven’t been the greatest lately.

Lets take a look at the results from the 2 systems that I currently follow.

Staking £50 per selection

Tennis Results – 39 selections in January, a loss of -£677 was made.

Staking £102 per selection.

Inplay Football Results – 22 selections a loss of  -£248 was made.

Total – -£925

So overall I am pretty much breakeven with TOS after a really strong NFL season where a profit of £920 was made.

(Trade On Sports official results will be different to mine due to missed bets, different prices taken on tennis.)

Below are the results in graph form since starting to follow the service.

Stick Or Bust?

Despite going through a rough period of results, I still intend to stick with Trade On Sports.

My initial plan was to go with the service for a year and then reasses things.

There is a plan in place that will enable the automation of the strategies that I follow.

Which would be a big plus for me and put aside the issue of missing out on selections due to family commitment etc.

Plus I know from the excellent blog daily25 that in sports betting there will be losing periods.

Even with services that are profitable long term. That’s just the reality of betting and something you have to come to terms with if you want to win long term.

Service Used

FTS Racing

Next up is FTS racing service which provides Betfair SP selections.

I have also included Ian’s horse racing podcast selections in the results.

Not a pretty graph.

Still early days with this service but a bloodbath in February puts the service into a negative overall now.

However again my plan is to stick with it for a full year and see things out before making any changes.

I think a lot of people jump on and off services very quickly. But your never going to time things perfectly and hit the good patches of variance each time.

Just got to ride it out and look at things over the longer term.

Trading

My own trading this month was solid if not spectacular.

I mentioned being unwell for a few weeks and from experience have found its best to leave the markets alone if your not feeling very sharp.

A profit of £488 was made from trading.

Thoughts Going Forward

It was nice to get a decent winning month in after January.

Hopefully the services that I follow will have stronger months going forward, which could push me through the £100k in total profit mark before the end of the year.

Happy with the amount of volume I put in this month.

Another high point was that I had the opportunity to write an article for Asktraders.com which was really cool.

You can read that article here.

Not much else to add really my betting/trading has become pretty rigid and boring nowadays but thats probably a positive.

Listened to a few interviews with Harry Findlay this month.

Thought it was interesting as he talks a lot about getting a “buzz” from betting still.

I’ll will be honest that something that i don’t get at all anymore.

Compared to when I started and every bet seemed to really matter.

Lets see what March brings, how has your betting been going on in 2020?

Sports Betting Scams – 5 Scams You Need To Be Aware Of

Sports betting scams!

Its hard enough to make money from the sports betting markets as it is.

The fact that it is also a market that attracts conmen and scammers is also something that you need to be aware of.

I fell for a scam early in my betting career lets try and make sure it doesn’t happen to you.

Lets take take a look at some common sports betting scams that you need to be aware of.

Investing in a Sports Trading Fund Scam

First off I should mention that there are legitimate sports betting and trading funds.

But generally if you get approached by someone on social media looking for investment in a sports trading fund its going to be a scam.

5 Betting Scams

Here is a good example of this type of  sports betting scam.

It is somebody offering “wallet mangement.”

Basically what this scammer suggests is that you send them money or give them access to your betfair accounts and they will trade on your behalf. Giving you a percentage of his winnings for doing so.

Tennis betting Scam

So this is a bad idea for a lot of reasons.

Giving someone else access to your betting accounts or sending them money under the premise of “wallet management.”

Always puts you in a very bad position. They can just easily just keep the money and disappear or if accessing your account lose that money into there own account.

Also it makes zero sense for a profitable sports bettor/trader to take such small investment and payout so much profit. Surely anyone that is making money from sports betting/trading can increase their bankroll from the profits made.

Here is a high profile case similar to this regarding the “Betfair King” scammer.

Betfair King Scam

Investing In a Sports Arbitrage Fund Scam

Next up is a scam that is very similar to the first one however it is under the guise of investing in a sports arbitrage fund.

Sports arbitrage betting is a great way to make money from the sports betting markets and I have written about it in depth here.

However again there is almost no reason at all as to why somebody would require investment for sports arbitrage.

Here is an article regarding the company the “Winning express” which pretended to a sports arbitrage betting fund.

Winning Express Scam

Sports Arbitrage Scam

The company was promoted by ex-Premiership footballers Steve Claridge and David Hirst it offered investors large, risk-free returns.

Investors in The Winning Express were guaranteed a 2% tax-free interest per month.

The Winning Express was allegedly run by a man named Graham Bradbury. Bradbury had previously been banned from being a company director for running a pyramid scheme.

Winning Express eventually closed in 2016.

This was a sports betting scam that left a lot of its “investors” being owed large sums of money.

Affiliate Tipsters

I have covered affiliate betting tipsters like Badman Betting previously however tipsters such as these are still pretty prevalent in the sports betting industry.

There are tipsters out there that basically work alongside bookmakers.

They do this by sending bookmakers new customers and getting paid a percentage of their losses.

This basically gives them an incentive to provide poor value tips in order for them to get make money.

Often you will see these types of tipsters running silly challenges such turn “£10 into £1000 in 10 days.”

Another favourite is to tip big accumulators which again tend to be very poor value.

Affiliate Betting Scam

Is this an outright sports betting scam?

Maybe, maybe not?

However I don’t think it benefits betting punters and i do think its pretty unethical as I know most people that follow these type of tips aren’t aware that those providing them recieve commission on reffered player losses.

Fake Betting Review Sites Scam

Now this is an interesting one and probably one you might not be aware of.

Its a scam I wasn’t ware of until I got duped by it and then did my homework.

Last time I wrote about these guys they pursued legal action so I can’t name them exactly (don’t want to waste time/money on legal advice.)

However I can point out red flags to look out for.

Fake Betting Review Scam

I’ll start with how I fell for this scam.

Quite a few years ago I was looking on a betting review site and came across a betting product that I had never seen before. It had rave reviews and the site was also recommending a matched betting product that I was already using.

That gave me some confidence that they were legitimate.

So I bought the product and it was terrible…………………….. really really terrible.

Basically it was the martingale system on sports betting………………… and that was it.

I spent £50 for that.

Immediately I felt incredibly stupid and asked for a refund, which was denied.

Paypal wouldn’t issue a refund as it was a digital product.

Hindsight

After digging a bit deeper I came to realise that the review site was created by the same person that was creating these scam betting products.

I left a few comments on the fake review site to see if they would show up.

They never did.

I also went on a few betting forums and asked if anyone else had been duped by this site.

Quite a few people had exactly the same experience as myself so it became clear what this person was doing.

He was giving his own products favourable reviews on his “review site” and creating fake profiles/comments to give out the impression that they offered value and were profitable.

Then choosing to block any real feedback on the product he had created.

In hindsight I should have questioned why no other review site was recommending it?

If it was really as good as the review site made out then much like matched betting it would have been everywhere.

Sometimes you just have to learn from these things and move on.

So yeah this was quite an elaborate sports betting scam but its one to be aware of.

Buying “Fixed Games Information” Scam

“Hey bro you wanna get some information on a fixed game? £50 and it yours”

“I’m ok bro thanks.”

Fixed game scam

I still get emails/social media messages like these from time to time.

Sometimes its a dude from Africa ,sometimes Asia, sometimes Eastern Europe.

The old paying for information on a fixed game scam.

Now do fixed games in football and other sports exist?

Yes they certainly do but do these criminal syndicates that organise them go around harrassing people on social media or through email looking to sell that information.

Probably not.

Again just using some common sense, if you had information on a fixed game then you could make a tonne of money betting on it.

It would make little sense to go around offering that information and potentially alerting more people to the fact the game is fixed.

Learn Real Methods For Making A Profit From The Sports Betting Markets

There we have it 5 betting scams that you should be aware of.

Although there are a lot of ways to lose money in the sports betting markets it is not impossible to make a decent income with the right strategies.

If you are interested in making a profit from the sports betting markets I have written two guides to help you do so.

WinnerOdds Review – Tennis Service That Has Made £40,487 Profit?

WinnerOdds Review – What is WinnerOdds?

WinnerOdds is a betting tool that highlights value bets within the tennis markets.

According to the official website.

WinnerOdds includes an Artificial Intelligence algorithm that calculates the real probabilities of all the tennis matches, compares them with the odds offered by the bookmakers and finds more than 5000 value bets per year in order to invest and earn money betting.

WinnerOdds Review

The official site shows some pretty impressive results since its inception in May 2016.

Despite tennis being a very popular sport that isn’t a large amount of tennis tipsters providing profitable services. Tennis Ratings and the Pyckio tennis tipster Nishi Kori are two other services that I have heard positive things about.

Lets take a look in this Winnerodds review whether this is also a service that can beat the tennis betting markets.

WinnerOdds Review – The Interface

The interface for WinnerOdds is extremely well polished, whilst also being easy to navigate and set up.

They have a well written tutorial which explains how to use the service. From setting up your bankroll to betting on the value selections that WinnerOdds highlights.

After you spend a few minutes getting familiar with the WinnerOdds software you can move on to selecting the bookmakers that you have available to use.

WinnerOdds Review

There are 22 monitored bookmakers. These are the bookmakers which the WinnerOdds software automatically scans and highlights when their algorithm finds value.

The other bookmakers are ones that you can manually search and add bets with if the software flags up a value bet.

WinnerOdds Value Tennis BetsWinnerOdds Review

Once you have set up your bankroll and selected your bookmakers its time to move onto the odds page. On this page you see potential bets that the WinnersOdds software has highlighted as being value.

WinnerOdds’s software shows you the tournament and time that the tennis match is being played. In green it highlights the player you should bet on. You will then see the algorithm’s estimation of the minimum value odds and if a bookmakers is matching that or offering higher it becomes a recommended bet.

The suggested staking is based on the Kelly criterion (read this article for a better understanding of the kelly criterion).

When you click highlighted selection, there is the option to adjust the amount staked and also adjust the odds if they have changed. WinnerOdds then tracks this bet for your and automatically updates your bankroll based on the result.

WinnerOdds Review

WinnerOdds Results

Lets take a look at the documented historical results of the WinnerOdds software.

WinnerOdds state that had you started with a £1000 bankroll at its inception.

Your total profits would now stand at £40,496 which is extremely impressive. This is over a total of 16295 bets using the suggested staking, averaging a yield of 8.81% per bet.

WinnerOdds ITF Results

One important factor to note is that the majority of these selections are not in the top flight tennis competitions ATP and WTA.

WinnerOdds seems to excel in finding value in the lesser know competitions such as the Challenger and ITF categories.

Lets take a look at the results for selections in the ATP.

WinnerOdds ATP Results

You can see in the ATP there has been 1542 selections since the WinnerOdds service started.

A profit of £732 has been made with a respectable yield of 2.42% per bet.

In the WTA the results are better.

A profit of £2095 has been made with a yield of 6.7%.

This highlights that WinnerOdds can find value in the higher liquid tennis matches. So for anyone that bets with exchanges this is an option.

WinnerOdds Review Results

Where the WinnerOdds algorithm has really made its money is in the Challenger and IFT competitions.

You can see from the above picture that after 5787 selections.

A profit of £17,871 has been made with a  yield of 9.19%.

WinnerOdds Review – Trial Results

I have had two months so far with the WinnerOdds software.

In between my normal betting and trading in my effort to make £1,000,000 from the sports betting markets.

I have been betting the value selections suggested by the software. So far I have logged in every morning around 09.00 and taken the suggested selections. This is a lower volume approach then is optimal.

WinnerOdds does send out selections to your email whenever the service finds new value in the tennis markets.

I found these very frequent and you will often get 20 to 30 selections a day.

These are my results based on 134 selections so far.

WinnerOdds Results

Picks134
Units Bet242.46
Units Won43.05
Yield16.28%

From the image above you can see that my early results have been pretty pain free. The profit graph is moving steadily upwards and there have been no real downswings yet.

Although it should be noted it is early days and a bad run of results could completely undo all of the profit made so far.

I checked my own results to make sure that there was no discrepancy with the odds recorded on my personal log and results recorded in WinnerOdds historical results.

Everything was recorded correctly and gives me confidence that the reported results from WinnerOdds is accurate.

WinnerOdds Pricing

WinnerOdds Price

Currently the cheapest option for subscribing to WinnerOdds is to pay every 390 euros (£353) every 6 months. This works out at an average of 65 euros (£59) a months.

This isn’t cheap working out at around £700 a year.

However if you have the required bookmakers available and a bankroll of around £1000. Based on historical results it is very likely that even after taking out subscriptions costs you would be left with a healthy profit.

WinnerOdds Conclusion

Early indications are very promising for WinnerOdds. The historical results are very impressive, the software works well and suggested staking is based on sound betting principals.

To get the most out of WinnerOdds you will need to have the monitored bookmakers available to bet with. Given that the majority of selections are in markets that aren’t offered on the betting exchanges.

Overall I was very impressed with WinnerOdds and I am happy to give it a recommendation.

Been a low volume month but with football picking up in the next few months, the volume of bets will increase.

Making A Million From Sports Betting And Trading – July 2018 Results

After renaming my monthly betting and trading reports, it would have been nice to storm out of the gates with a large profit.

Unfortunately the gods of variance don’t really care about what you’d like to happen.

July ended up being a pretty disappointing month in terms of overall profit.

Matched Betting – Sports Offers, Accumulators, Arbitrage

Starting off with the backbone of my portfolio. The lowest risk and pretty much guaranteed method that will churn out a decent profit month after month.

On months like July when other methods produce a loss. There is always the comfort that matched betting and arbitrage will lessen the damage.

In July I took part in 192 offers.

A total profit of £893 was made.

I was hoping that this might turn around in July and a decent profit would be made.

However that was not the case.

In July I did 137 advantage play offers.

For a total loss of -£317

It is important to note that you need to take a long term view with advantage play.

Whilst it isn’t nice putting in the hours over a two month period and seeing a loss of -£672.

I prefer to limit the variance and back the selections as singles.

Overall July was a below average month. The addition of two tipsters along with casino offers is probably going to see more volatility from month to month.

Banker Bets Value Picks Review 2017 – Is It Profitable?

Banker Bets Value Picks Review 2017

Banker Bets Value Picks is a service that comes out of the well regarded Banker Bets tipster service. Whereas the original Banker Bets service focuses on finding value at shorts odds in the football markets. Value Picks bucks that trend and looks for value among all odds ranges.

Banker Bets Value Picks Review

I have been following the Banker Bets Value Picks service since the 28th of July. Here are my results and impressions since I began tracking the service.

Results And Key Stats (Based On £1000 Bank)

Banker Bets Value Picks Review

Bets205
Total Staked£5,100
P/L£386.82
Return On Investment7.5%

In total there were 205 bets over a period of 4 months. A total of £5,100 was staked and a profit of £386.82 would have been made following these selections and staking advice.

These results are very solid and could be bettered if you consistently looked to get the best odds when selections are sent.

How does the service run?

Banker Bets Value Picks is run much like the original Banker Bets. You will receive daily emails from John Baker the man behind the service. The emails are usually sent early in the morning between 02.00 – 05.00. Which works well for a lot of people as they can bet the selections before starting work.

The service also provides staking advice based on a 40 point bank of £1000. With stakes ranging from 0.5 points to 2 points.

One of the big positives of the service is that they record results to the average odds available.

Banker Bets Value Picks Review

For example here is a selection sent from Value Picks. Which will be recorded at odds of 1.73 however was available as high as 1.78. This means that you can consistently better the results that this service is recording.

Banker Bets Value Picks Review

Looking at the overall results from Banker Bets Value Picks. You can see a very solid return on investment of nearly 8% and profit of £434.57. These results are to average odds.

In my opinion from following this service. Realistically if you shopped around for better odds. You would most likely have achieved a return on investment of 9% or more and profits of around £500.

Banker Bets Value Picks Conclusion

Banker Bets Value Picks is a service that I really like and its results to date are very impressive. It’s a service that I am going to invest in and add to my 50k betting and trading challenge.

With any sports betting service it’s always going to be a question of can they make money long term?

So whilst Banker Bets Value Picks is still quite a new service it is run very professionally and I believe that long term it will be profitable.

This service gets a recommendation from me. I will continue to update this review as I begin to follow Banker Bets Value Picks with my own money.

Betting Tipster Reviews – Who Can You Trust?

Betting Tipster Reviews – Who Can You Trust?

When I was at university. I found myself one summer with a spare few thousand pounds. From a student grant that I was lucky enough to have.

My interest in sports betting was just beginning and I came across a betting review site.

This site recommend a service called the “sports betting professor.” It was a service that focused on American sports. Being fairly naive at the time I jumped in and followed the progressive staking system it advised. Lost a decent amount of money and wondered why it hadn’t worked.

I then tried another recommended system from the same review site.

Again I had the same results it lost a bunch of money and I realised I was out of my depth. Or possibly the review site wasn’t being as honest as they claimed.

Betting Tipster Reviews

In hindsight these betting services were terrible and had no edge at all. They were being recommended purely on the basis of affiliate commissions.

After this I started to study sports betting, sports trading and poker. Figuring out how to actually make money from gambling. What was really required, learning about proper bankroll management, variance and the importance of finding value.

It took me probably a year or two later before I joined another service. I put a bit more research into it this time. On the recommendation of a couple of review sites I joined profit maximiser. Which ended up recouping the losses I had made in the previous years from shoddy services and allowed my betting bankroll to grow at a crazy rate.

So I have both been burnt by betting review sites and also seen the benefit when they are done properly.

Betting Tipster Review Sites – How Do They Work?

Lets look at how a legitimate review works.

  1. They approach the vendor of a product/service related to their website. Or the vendor approaches them.
  2. The site trials the product/service for a certain length of time.
  3. They write an honest review of the service. Give it a recommendation if it offers value or state that it isn’t very good and there are better alternatives.
  4. Receive commission on the sale of the product if a purchaser comes through their site.

That is basically how most legitimate review sites function. They try to build trust with their readers. In the likely hood that if they purchase something that offers value they are much more likely to buy something recommended by the site in the future.

This is the model I use to create revenue for this site. I am actively betting and trading on sports on a daily basis. So I do use a lot of trading and betting services.

If I see something that looks legitimate and offers value. I will often approach the seller to ask if I can write a review and put it on the site.

Also I put up betting reviews of the services I continue to use on a regular basis.

However not all review sites work this way.

Scam Review Sites

Not all sites use this model.

From my experience I have seen some review sites that are not legitimate. Some are created by the same person that is selling a service/product.

Lets say for example someone is selling a horse lay betting service. They create a fake review site and give this product an excellent review. Then leave multiple fake comments below all saying how great the service is and how much money they are all making. Creating review websites to present a false impression of the product they are trying to sell.

This does happen.

Unfortunately some of these scam sites are quite intricate. A level above the usual email from a Nigerian Prince. Who needs £1000 so he get back the £500,000 he left in his secret cave back in some imaginary Island. Which he’ll gladly split with you 50/50 if you assist him.

Betting Tipster Reviews

I would like to name this site and the products they are selling. Which I have done previously but due to the threat of legal action I removed it. Even though I don’t think they really had a case. Like most people I would rather not have to spend time going through a legal case. When there are other things I would much rather be doing.

What I can do however is list the betting review sites that I have used and find to be fairly honest in their assessment of sports betting tipsters and services.

Laybackandgetrich is a betting and trading review site that has been around since 2011. This is a site that I have found to give a pretty honest assessment of tipsters and betting services. It was on the advice of this site that I joined the first service I made good money with

What I like about this site is they don’t block out negative comments left on services they are reviewing or may have recommended. The site has an active community in the comments section. Which allows good discussions about services.

If I am ever looking at a tipster or betting service I will normally check this site for their opinion.

Honest Betting Reviews

HONEST BETTING REVIEWS

If you were looking to learn to build a site around a specific niche and get a good ranking. Honest betting reviews is a really good site to look at. This is a site that is designed really well and dominates the search ranking when it comes to betting reviews.

However the most important question is are they really honest?

From my experience with the services I have used and they have reviewed. It is a site that does a good job of assessing the profitability of a betting tipster or service.

When they recommend a service they provide future updates on its performance. Which is a really good aspect as betting services can often go on good runs in a short period of time. So extended trial are always a good sign for of a decent review sites.

Secret Betting Club

Secret Betting Club

The Secret Betting Club is a bit different to most review sites. They don’t use an affiliate model from the tipsters or betting services they review. Instead they use a subscription service which means you have to pay to access their magazine and some aspects of their website.

Why would you pay?

You might wonder why you would pay for a review service when so many do it for free. Well the Secret Betting Club do the most thorough and useful betting reviews on the internet in my opinion. Where as some sites may leave out certain aspects of a service in order to get that affiliate commission. The Secret Betting Club will note every negative aspect of a service and give a much more unbiased overview of a service.

Perhaps the biggest positive of the Secret Betting Club. Is that they provide an excellent education in making money from sports betting. There is a lot of really good articles on their website regarding all the aspects of betting and the mentality needed to be a successful sports bettor.

Betting Tipster Review Sites Conclusion

Overall I don’t think you should ever rely completely on the word of a betting tipster review site. But they are certainly a good resource for highlighting betting services that might potentially be profitable.

It is best to educate yourself on the world of sports betting and sports trading. This way you can often see quite quickly whether a service is legitimate.

  • Are results recorded clearly and with more then one bookmaker?
  • Do they focus on long term results or just brag about short term winners?
  • Is there a refund policy or free trial?

Ultimately I think  legitimate betting tipster and service review sites are very useful.

They can save you a huge amount of time when looking for profitable betting services. However you should also make sure you do your research on both the review site and the service they are recommending.

Before parting with your hard earned money.

Betting The Underdog In Football – A Winning System?

Betting the underdog in football can it be a winning system?

In a past article I have written about the favourite longshot biasAnd why you shouldn’t discount short odds as having no value. As often there can be excellent value found at the shorter odds ranges.

However what about underdogs, Is there money to be made backing underdogs?

Betting The Underdog In Football
Bradford City beating Chelsea 4-2 at Stamford Bridge

Value Can Be Found At Any Odds Range

There have been numerous studies which have shown that if you go around blindly backing underdogs in football. You are going to lose a lot more money then if you went around blindly backing favourites.

However this does not mean there is no value to be found in betting on underdogs.

Value can be found in any odds range. Whether those odds are 1.01 or 1000. Either of those odds could have value dependent on the situation.

For example lets say in some alternate universe Barcelona were playing my Sunday league team in a competitive game. For some reason bookies priced Barcelona at 1.01.

In this situation I would know there was close to a 0% chance my side would beat Barcelona.

For a variety of reasons.

  • Pete’s dodgy knees
  • Half of the team would have been on the lash Friday night
  • Completely outclassed in every imaginable area of football

So odds of 1.01 on Barcelona would be great value.

Then in another alternate universe Floyd Mayweather was going to fight Conor Mcgregor (oh wait that’s actually happening.)

With bookmakers giving Mcgregor odds of 50.00.

Given Mcgregor has a punchers chance, comes from a combat sport and is a good athlete. Most people would agree that odds of 50.00 would be value in this situation. (Odds of 5.5 not so much)

Betting Underdog

League 2 Football Betting System

A blog that I mentioned in my best sports betting blogs article called Green All Over. Has highlighted a simple underdog betting system in English football. Which has provided just over a 9% return on investment over the last five seasons.

This underdog betting strategy shows that by betting League Two sides playing away. At the maximum closing odds available. Would have yielded a 9.32% profit since 2012-2013. Using the closing odds at Pinnacle this betting system would have also recorded a profit of 3.77%

Pro Footy Tips

Pro Footy Tips is a tipster that is also showing that there is money to be made from backing underdogs in football. A return on investment of 16.25% is quoted to have been made from 638 bets. (At the time of writing)

Betting The Underdog In Football

Having trialed and tested various betting gods tipsters. I would believe these results to be accurate.

These results have been achieved backing average odds of 4.8. This is another indication that there is value to be found from backing underdogs in football.

What should you be aware of when backing underdogs?

  • Longer losing runs

When you are backing at higher odds its possible you might encounter some long losing runs. As you will be betting on outcomes with lower probabilities it is not uncommon to lose 20 or 30 bets in row. The higher the odds ranges you are backing the more likely a long losing run could occur.

Betting The Underdog In Football

Just to highlight this. You can see from the above image that Pro Footy Tips lost 19 out of 20 selections. From January 24th to February the 14th 2017. But still has a really impressive return on investment and makes profit long term.

  • Bigger bankroll or lower staking

Because you are backing at higher odds where losing runs are more frequent. You will need to make sure your bankroll can sustain these periods. This means that you would either need to stake lower amounts or have a larger bankroll. Compared to a betting system where you would be backing favourites.

  • Use The Betting Exchanges

In most cases you will find the best price on underdogs is at the betting exchanges. If you want to make long term profits from betting you always want to make sure you get the best odds possible. When looking at underdogs you should always check the betting exchanges.

In conclusion you can see that it is possible to make money backing underdogs in football.

Much like every other aspect of gambling whether its sports betting, sports trading or poker. If you put in the research, find a sufficient edge and use a proper staking plan. Long term profits are possible.

Matched Betting For A Living – Is It A Realistic Goal

Matched betting for a living probably seems like the ideal job for a lot of people. You get to stay at home and work exclusively from your computer. No boss to worry about, no annoying colleagues that you have to put up with.

If you are not familiar with matched betting please read this article

Matched betting for a living
Could life be so easy as a full time matched bettor?

Sounds good right….. But is matched betting for a living possible?

Matched Betting For A Living

If you are a regular reader of this blog. Then you will know that I am currently undertaking a 50k in a year betting and trading challenge. The largest amount of profit from this challenge comes from matched betting and exploiting casino offers.

Here is a breakdown of profit made from matched betting

  • April Profits – £787
  • May Profits – £91 (made an error which cost me £330)
  • June Profits -£548

Here is a breakdown of profits from casino offers

  • April Profits – £885
  • May Profits – £1628
  • June Profits – £1108
Matched betting for a living
Casino offers will bring in extra profits over the long term. But you have to be able to handle the variance.

So you can see that you can make decent money from matched betting and casino offers. However whether you could make a living from it depends on several factors.

Factors You Need To Consider

The biggest factor is how much do you need to pay the bills?

Some people can get by on a £1000 a month. For others its £5000 a month. Obviously this is the key point to consider if you were looking at matched betting full time.

How many ungubbed accounts do you have left? Do you have the resources to open more?

If you have been matched betting for a while. You will know that bookmakers don’t like it and will remove your ability to take part in promotions. After that you can use these bookies for arbing or value betting. Eventually however the well runs dry and you don’t have any more options.

Are there friends and family members that you could teach about matched betting? Perhaps take a percentage of their profits?

Job Security

You might find your job mundane and boring as hell. But is also might be very secure with a pension plan and sick pay. Matched betting for a living is quite a uncertain profession.

How long will you be able to make a living from it? Will new rules come into place which make it harder? What if bookmakers stop offering promotions?

Matched betting for a living

If you do leave your job to pursue matched betting full time. Will you be able to return should things not pan out?

On the flip side though could matched betting provide you with an income that will open up opportunities in the future. With enough resources you can compound your profit over and over. This could enable to reinvest your money into pursuing a job you would enjoy.

Matched Betting Bank

Another important question to ask yourself is how much money do you have saved up?

You would need enough to cover the cost of your bills. But also have enough to spread around different bookmakers and exchanges. So that you could make the most of the matched betting offers when they are available.

It is hard for me to make an exact estimate as everyone’s situation is different. But I would say you would want to have at least enough money to pay your bills for 6 months. Then have an extra £5000 bankroll or more just for matched betting.

If you are going to take advantage of higher risk casino offers. Then you would probably want an even larger bankroll on top of money to pay the bills.

Conclusion

In this article I have pointed out some of the negative and positive aspects of matched betting for a living. If it is something you are considering my advice would be don’t rush into it.

Especially if you are quite new to matched betting it may seem like the holy grail. There is no harm in perhaps lowering your hours at work and putting more hours into matched betting. Then reevaluating your things after a few months.

Don’t get me wrong matched betting is awesome but is important to put realistic expectations on pursuing it full time. I personally know some people that do extremely well from matched betting for a living.

Could that person be you in the future? Possibly but it is important to evaluate all the factors involved before you make the jump.

If you want to make the most of your matched betting. This service gets my recommendation as the best matched betting software around.
