Making A Million From Sports Betting And Trading – March 2021 Results

Making A Million Challenge

This year started strong with January and February showing decent profits.

The sporting schedule is jam packed at the moment, with Euro 2021 this summer its going to be an interesting year.

During March we had Cheltenham festival which in previous years had been very profitable.

March brought me to exactly four years of running this challenge.

Although still far away from the £1,000,000 target it does show that having a few solid strategies does pay off in the long run.

Making A Million

Let’s take a look at results from March.

Value Betting, Matched Betting And Arbitrage

This month saw the Cheltenham festival which a few years ago was like Christmas for matched bettors. There were offers all over the place. Online and in shops, there were people that would make thousands of pounds in profit from Cheltenham when I first started.

Well I got crushed this year.

There were some decent offers available with Speadex in particular running a nice offer.

However I chose to value bet everything. Rather then cover the other side on the exchanges, in the hope that I would trigger a free bet.

Value Betting Results

A slight recovery was made at the end of the month.

But overall March was a pretty flat month for this set of strategies.

In March there were 407 bets.

A total profit of £157 was made.

Casino Offer Results March

The second month in a row were volume was pretty low.

A few recurring offers were not running such the “Double Your Winnings” offer that Bet365 normally run.

Only got a few cashback and reload offers.

So overall things were pretty quiet on the casino offers front.

Again this month I didn’t branch out and actively look for new sign ups, however it does seem like there has been a reduction in decent offers the last two months.

Hopefully things pick up in April.

There were 61 offers completed in March

A total profit of £371 was made

Sports Betting Results

It was my own sports betting results which saved this month from being a pretty poor.

I continue to run well betting on MMA and was profitable with some in-play betting on football this month.

During March I made a total of 20 bet.

A total profit of £983 was made.

The Basketball Geek Results

March will be the last month of following the Basketball Geek.

Whilst it has been profitable following his selections.

He seems to be focused almost exclusively now on very small leagues.

Betting on women’s Russian basketball, Senegal basketball and Polish second division is going to burn accounts pretty quickly.

This month I did try following only the larger league selections and matches that were available on Betfair.

But as you can see volume was pretty low.

There were 18 selections in total.

A profit of £56 was made

Free Tipster Experiment

March saw the continuation of the free tipster experiment.

The idea is to take the best free tips available from a number of different sources and see if its profitable long term.

Staking is very simple, I look to win around £50 for each selection.

It was an up and down month for the free tipster experiment but overall it ended in profit.

There were 212 selections.

A total profit of £296 was made.

Below is a list is a list of the tipsters used.

Trading

MMA trading

March was a decent month on the trading front.

Managed to build up a decent position on Francis Ngannou pre fight in his fight against Stipe Miocic. The idea was then to reduce my liability after round 1. Then completely exit the trade after round 2 were he was likely to start slowing down.

Ngannou put on a spectacular performance and ended up finishing the job in the second round via knock out.

Overall a total of £432 was made from trading.

Thoughts Going Forward

This year has got off to a great start, if things continue this way it looks like I could get over £30k in total profit made within a year.

Which would be a nice mile stone to get over.

Although things can change very rapidly in betting and a few poor months could make that look pretty unrealistic, time will tell.

There will be a new addition to the portfolio next month.

Which will be Neil Macdonald’s football picks.

Been tracking these since the 17th of February and also using Neil’s picks from Betmarkets for a while.

He tips in major European football leagues which have big liquidity.

So unlike the Basketball Geek odds don’t get hammered in minutes and I can use the sharps/exchanges to get my bets on fairly easily.

His long term record is excellent.

So I do think that going forward this will be a profitable addition.

Making A Million From Sports Betting And Trading – February 2021 Results

After a strong start to 2021.

I was hoping February would bring more of the same.

Kids are returning to school, vaccines seem to be rolling out pretty well.

It looks like we could start to see some form of normal life return in 2021, fingers crossed.

Let’s take a look at results for from February.

Value Betting, Matched Betting And Arbitrage

A stronger month for this set of strategies, the results from value betting had not been great the last few months.

However things picked towards the end of the month.

Didn’t do much arbitrage betting, made a few quid from a limited accounts on weekends. The majority of the volume was from value betting.

Took advantage of the bet £50 pre match get £50 inplay offer from Bet365 this month which is always a good earner and one that I hope they continue with.

The end of the month was capped off nicely when Betbull gave me a £10 risk free bet that came in.

In February there were 277 bets.

A total profit of £1162 was made.

Advantage Play – Casino Offers

The good run with casino offers continued in February.

A lot of bonuses I do are cash before bonus.

The strategy is double the deposit on blackjack and withdraw, or lose and hope to make a profit turning over the bonus on slots.

February was a month where the wins came easy and I didn’t have to rollover the bonus. Won 7 times in row doubling the deposit on blackjack. (Writing this March the 1st the streak ended and I lost £200 today.)

Something that did stick out this month however was a pretty big drop in volume.

Homeschooling has probably impacted this.

Also I have just not really felt like putting in the hours on casino offers this month.

Didn’t look at any new account offers and just stuck with the regular recurring ones (Mecca Bingo,Bet365, Betfred etc.)

However I know this lucky run will come to end soon, so its an area where I need to pick up the volume again in coming months.

During February I did 70 casino offers.

A total profit of £1071 was made.

Sports Betting Results

My own selections had a good month in February.

The biggest profit this month came from backing Britain Hart to beat Paige Van Zant in bare knuckle boxing.

Managed to get £200 on this at 2.25, which were silly odds given PVZ was making her debut and had never really been known as good boxer from her time in UFC.

In total there 22 bets made in February.

A total profit of £553 was made.

A few bets from February

The Basketball Geek Results

The volume of selections I got on this month dropped massively.

It was a combination of waking up a bit later then normal and odds just being way off advised.

The Basketball Geek also isn’t sending selections the likes of the NBA or WNBA where it pretty easy to match prices. Tends to be focusing much more on smaller more niche markets at the moment.

Which isn’t great the account life of soft bookmakers accounts but has been pretty profitable.

This month I did post some odds up on Betfair after missing the advised odds, however the majority of times bets were not matched.

In total I bet 38 selections from the Basketball Geek.

A total profit of £122.

Free Tipster Experiment

The free tipster experiment continued in February.

It’s a simple idea, I have looked to find some of the best free tips available and I stake to win around £50 each time.

It was an up and down month that eventually ended in a loss.

There were a total of 108 bets.

A loss of £38 bets was made.

Below is a list of the free tipsters used.

Trading

Trading in February was a bit of a blur to be honest.

Made some profit pre match trading Chelsea vs Atletico but overall lost money on some in-play methods.

Not much more to add really, it was a pretty low volume month for trading.

In February a loss of -£45 was made from trading.

Thoughts Going Forward

Results were good this month.

Felt like I have found a good balance between spending time with the family and working on betting related stuff. The opening of schools in March should give me at least an extra 20 hours a week.

Which should enable me to put more time towards casino offers and betting related stuff. (Or possibly just give me 20 extra hours on the Xbox.)

Running two reviews at the moment on services that both have good reputations.

Following Neil Mcdonald’s tips using sharp bookmakers and exchanges. Also trialing Ron Williams horse racing tips using betting exchanges.

Ron W Results

Hopefully these will prove successful and add one or possibly two more profitable methods to the making a million challenge.

Making A Million From Sports Betting And Trading – January 2021 Results

It’s been a good start to 2021 on the betting front.

Nearly everything made a profit and I continue to run well on casino offers.

Not much else to add really, with lockdown things are pretty boring but having betting stuff to do on a daily basis keeps things ticking over.

Let’s take a look at the results from the first month of 2021.

Making A Million From Sports Betting

Value Betting, Matched Betting And Arbitrage

Last month was a losing month for this set of strategies and value betting especially struggled again early on.

I do very little matched betting now apart from Bet365 offers and a small amount of arbitrage.

Which is much less now as the account I was mainly using for arbitrage has put a loss limit of £200 a month on my account.

This bookmaker normally gives very small arbs which I had been happy to take. However now I can only stake £200 for example on a 1.33/1.32 arb. Which is pretty annoying especially if it loses and I have to leave the account alone for a month.

My hope is that this does not becoming the norm for sports betting in the UK.

So its pretty much 90% value betting at the moment which opens you up to variance.

The upswing at the end was due to winning a 2up bet on Kilmarnock (This is when Bet365 pay out if a team leads 2-0, if the team blows the lead which Kilmarnock did you get paid out on both your win bet and lay bet.)

This is a matched betting strategy, click here to learn more about matched betting.

In January a total of 303 bets were made in.

A total profit of £538 was made.

The casino Gods were kind again this month despite a drop in volume.

I do feel like I am running pretty well at the moment with casino stuff and imagine that a correction will happen in the near future.

However when the good times come you have to enjoy them.

There were no major wins this month, just a few similar to the one below which all added up at the end of the month.

During January I did 101 casino offers.

A total profit of £1007 was made.

Sports Betting Results

January was a really good month for my own personal sports bets, which focus mostly on the MMA markets.

Again I felt like I got some good luck this month.

Split decisions went my way and a few prop bets with big odds came in.

In total there were 22 bets in January.

A profit of £858 was made.

The Basketball Geek Results

I like the Basketball Geek but it is becoming harder and harder to get close to the quoted odds.

The Basketball Geek sends selections at 8.00, I am normally betting them within 10 minutes at most but it does not seem quick enough at the moment.

Going to continue with this tipster because results have been excellent and perhaps start looking to leave prices up on the exchanges or see later in the day if prices bounce back.

This month I bet 60 selections.

A loss of £112 was made.

Basketball Geek Review

Free Tipster Experiment

The free Tipster Experiment continued in January and results were good.

It’s a simple concept, I have looked to find some of the best free tips available and I stake to win around £50 each time (Not always exactly £50).

Always taking at least the recommended odds.

The tipsters that I am following tip selections that can be bet on using Asian Connect or with the betting exchanges.

Not choosing any tipsters that are using solely soft bookmakers as I want to be able to get on bets without the worry of restrictions.

The hope is that if its shows to be profitable, I will be able to scale it up.

Most of the profit came from a strong last weekend of the month.

Nigel Seeley from the Trademate podcast had a cracking end to the month and Demetrio Giotti from SBC was another tipster that did really well.

I am also taking bets from a few football tipsters on Betmarkets that tip in the bigger leagues. Who also finished the month strong.

Be interesting to see if this will be a profitable long term strategy. Would like to get to at least a thousand bets before I break things down into average odds, roi etc.

I often miss bets and its not the most refined strategy yet but next month I will write up a list of all the tipsters I am using.

In total there were 128 bets in January.

A profit of £716 was made.

Trading

Didn’t do a whole lot of trading in January.

Home schooling is taking up a lot of time during the week and at the weekend I am normally pretty busy value betting.

Made some profit trading Mcgregor vs Poirer in the days leading up to the event as it was pretty much one way traffic on Mcgregor up until fight day.

Overall it was a pretty uneventful month on the sports trading front.

In January I made a profit of £202 from trading.

Thoughts Going Forward

Overall it was a really good start to 2021, with the monthly profit being above average.

My long term plan is and has been for the last several years to use sports betting and trading as a way to reach financial independence.

Fingers crossed that regulation doesn’t get in the way and this goal continues to look achievable.

In terms of strategies and services used I don’t intend to change much.

Like I wrote earlier I will carry on with the free tipster experiment and assess things after a few more hundred bets.

All the other strategies are proven to be profitable so its just about getting as much turnover in these area’s as possible.

Betmarkets Results

I have a long term investment in Betmarkets which isn’t doing very well at the moment.

My £1000 initial investment is down around £200.

However I have seen with my own value betting drawdown periods and the people behind Betmarkets have made it clear Betmarkets is a long term investment. That should be looked at in a similar way as an index fund would.

So its not something to tinker with every month and dip in and out of.

Happy to leave it for now and then revaluate things in a few more months.

Making A Million From Sports Betting And Trading – October 2020 Results

At the beginning of the year I gave myself a minimum target to get over the £100,000 in total profit.

I don’t like to make short term targets but it seemed that this would be very doable and I just wanted some kind of monetary goal for this year.

Then in March obviously the pandemic hit and things didn’t look too promising.

Well October has gone about as well as it possibly could and it does look like that overall profit target will be reached this year.

Let’s take a look at where the profit came from in October.

Sports Betting and Trading Challenge

Value Betting And Arbitrage (Matched Betting)

It was sad to see the Betsafe/Betsson group leave the UK market this month. Had been finding a lot of value betting and arbitrage opportunities with them recently. They also seemed happy to take my money and I was able to get down decent amounts down.

However for whatever reason they left the UK market this month. I had a fair bit of money left in my accounts and thought It was most likely going to be a pain to get that money back.

Like I said earlier, this month went about as well as it could have. It only took a few days to get the money back in my account. Also the BML group paid out unsettled bets as winners. So I received just under £500 in unexpected profit from them.

So overall that’s pretty much the best case scenario when a bookmaker decides to close.

The majority of my value bets placed were using Trademate and Oddsmonkey. My results also include using money back on 2nd place with Will Hill and any value to be found from extra place offers.

This month a total of 354 bets were made in October.

A total profit of £1672 was made.

The casino gods were really kind this month.

I visited my local witchdoctor this month and he told me to sacrifice 3 goats and a pig on day when the moon was full. That seemed to appease the gods this month and they rewarded me handily.

(Just to be clear the above is a joke, Rest assured that no animals have ever or will ever be harmed as a result of me trying to make money exploiting casino offers. Nor do I mean any offence to any practicing witch doctors. It is a noble profession and one I respect)

Casino Offer Results

You can see from the graph above that the majority of October’s profit was from two big wins.

One of those wins I recorded as it happened on a bonus round, the other win was less expected.

People seem to enjoy these videos and it also helps to add some transparency to my results. If you want to view the biggest win of the month, the video is below.

This was on the slot Gonzo’s Quest slot. It was with a casino called Genesis casino that have a reputation of being difficult. However they recently had their UK licence reinstated and they paid me out in full within a few days.

During October I did 203 offers.

A profit of £3001 was made.

Sports Betting Results

October was a solid month in terms of sports betting.

I avoided (for the most part) betting on football and stuck with betting on MMA.

The one football bet I did make was Atalanta to beat Midtjylland in the Champions League at 1.69. A lot of people that I respect the opinion of, had this as value so I was pretty happy to take it.

My biggest winning bet for the month was a £200 stake on Brian Ortega at odds of 2.7.

Sports Betting Results

Overall I made 22 bets in October.

A profit of £750 was made.

The Basketball Geek Results

After tracking results of this service for a few months and being impressed with it.

I have added it to my overall betting strategy/portfolio whatever you prefer to call it.

For this strategy I used a variable staking strategy looking to win £40. Although I do round off my stakes so its not exactly £40 every time.

Basketball Geek

After 93 bets I ended up pretty much where I started.

A total profit of £2 was made.

Not much to report here. It wasn’t a disaster by any means just a month where things didn’t get going.

Previous results with this service have been very promising and I do think long term following the service will be profitable.

Hopefully we will get some momentum going next month.

Basketball Geek Review

Trading

This month I made £216 from trading.

The majority of the profit came from this trade.

Laying Dynamo Kiev when they were leading 2-0 away at Ferencvaros. The game ended up finishing 2-2.

I have wrote about this previously but trading is something I have been doing a lot less off.

For a long time I was content to spend long hours in front of the computer however this year I have put a lot more focus on exercising regularly. Making sure I spend a lot of time with my kids and generally just leading a more balanced life style.

So my time trading is pretty minimal and I often just get involved when I see something that looks like obvious value (in my estimation).

Thoughts Going Forward

So obviously it was really good month where I was very fortunate.

If you do stick with casino offers then you will run into these months every now and again. It is just a case of putting in the volume and going through the bad periods.

I often get emails asking if casino offers are still worth doing.

In my opinion yes they are, just get started. As we have seen with the matched betting/poker/arbitrage boom, these opportunities don’t last forever and usually diminish with time.

Going forward I don’t really plan on doing a huge amount more then what I am already. I have added one tipster and will look to add more in the future but currently happy with the workload and profit.

In the next week I do plan on making a video on youtube as its been neglected for a little while.

If that interests you, you can subscribe here https://youtube.com/c/SmartSportsTrader

Planning to go through this year’s results and talk about where I think the best opportunities are going forward in the sports betting markets.

If you have any questions or anything you would like me to discuss.

You can add it in the comments or send me an email at [email protected]

Making A Million From Sports Betting And Trading – September Results

After a really good set of results in August.

I was looking to build on this in September and try to get over £100,000 in total profit before the end of 2020.

Let’s take a look at September’s results.

Sports Betting and Trading Challenge

Value Betting And Arbitrage (Matched Betting)

In terms of matched betting offers there is not a lot going on at the moment. Betfair exchange throw out a fiver a week and if you are not limited from Bet365 they still have the occasional decent offer.

The majority of my betting volume is in the form of value betting.

This is betting boosts, accumulator promos, extra places, single bets.

I am still betting at the exchanges where 0% throws up opportunities and also been looking at the Asian bookies and finding value.

(I have been using the Trademate Sports software this month. To gather results for an updated review of the software. This has contributed to the profits this month. It should be noted that I am running well above EV for this month and an 18% roi is not to be expected long term.)

Trademate Sports

When it comes to arbitrage I am hammering my limited accounts. Also I do find opportunities for in-play arbitrage and some small arbs between sharp bookmakers and betting exchanges.

A lot of people think that arbitrage betting is dead in 2020, however this isn’t true there is still money to be made.

Value Betting September

I made a total of 481 bets in August.

A total profit of £2106 was made.

On to the casino offers and all in all, this month was pretty average.

Mecca Bingo seem to be throwing out more offers then usual which is always good to see. Cashino were the latest to leave the UK market however won’t really miss them. As their reload offers tended to pretty poor.

Here is an epic bonus I had on Rainbow Riches Cluster Magic.

Haha exciting stuff right?

That’s pretty much advantage play in a nutshell. The majority of the time its very boring and then now and again you pick up a big win which makes it all worthwhile.

This month there were a few medium sized wins but nothing of note.

Casino Offer Results

During September I did exactly 150 offers.

A profit of £694 was made.

Sports Betting Results

My own betting was poor this month.

It is the same pattern that rears its head again and again, make money from MMA and lose it betting pre match football.

Below are my long term stats over the last 3 years.

(No sport equals live bets in both football and MMA)

Betting Results

I have written previously that I should stop betting football pre match. Whilst I still had a very small positive long term roi up until this month. It’s been steadily decreasing for a while.

I don’t give football enough attention to warrant betting it and should have cut it out completely a while ago.

It’s a tough market to beat in general and to think I can just profit from it with a very brief analysis is pretty stupid on my part.

Time to knock these bets pre match football bets on the head finally.

This month I made 14 bets.

A total loss of -£555 was made.

Trading

Trading has been ok this month with no real standout trades.

When I see something obvious in the market, I will open up a position. It doesn’t always go to plan but over the long term its been profitable.

Horse Racing Trade

Unfortunately with work, family life, value betting, casino offers etc.

I don’t have a lot of time to trade.

This month I have spent time looking at automation and bot services.

If anyone has any feedback on Mercurious or Exponential bet I would love to here from you either via email or in the comments.

In total I made £102 from trading this month.

Thoughts Going Forward

A solid month where a profit decent was made.

There is a part of me that is pretty content with just carrying on with what I am doing and making between £1k-£4k a month. But there is another part of me that wants to push on and see if I can make much more.

However to do that would mean increasing stakes and taking on more risk.

When it comes to matched betting, arbitrage and casino offers, I can’t really scale these much more.

If I want to up my staking levels. I have to look at value betting, my own personal betting and adding services which make money from the exchanges or sharp bookmakers.

Which would mean taking on more risk and variance. Probably meaning that I would endure more losing months and larger swings in my profit and loss.

Something that I need make a definitive decision on………….

At the end of this month I did start following a tipster called the Basketball Geek. Having followed this tipster for a few months for review purposes (Which I will write up in the next few days). I am confident that he is profitable long term.

Although I have issues with the way they record odds and the quoted odds they use for his results are not obtainable. He is a good tipster that beats the closing odds regularly and can be be followed using Asian bookmakers (not all selections however.)

Making A Million From Sports Betting And Trading – June Results

June was a good month.

It seems like things are getting back to normal and the return of regular sport was a welcome one.

I did miss it, its nice to have busy Saturday’s back where I’m firing off value bets everywhere and tallying everything at the end of the day. Might be the degenerate gambler side of me that still remains but I do like having lots of action on.

Horses, football, UFC I love it when the weekends are packed.

Anyway lets take a look at the results from June.

Sports Betting and Trading Challenge

Matched Betting – Sports Offers, Arbitrage, Value Betting

June saw the return of the Bet365 bet £50 get £50 in-play offer.

Which is one if not the best recurring matched betting offer that still gets thrown out from time to time.

The Ascot horse racing festival was also in June and helped a poor start to the month turn around.

I made a total of 495 bets in June.

A total profit of £1247 was made.

I did nearly 100 less offers in June compared to May.

Which I was quite surprised about when I went over the results for the month.

Didn’t do many sign ups this month and the increase in sports probably was a factor.

As a result the month end P/L was solid without being spectacular.

Sports Betting Results

During June I made 11 bets and made a total profit of £235.

Not much to say really other then I need to stake more on MMA betting (Which I stated in last months update but didn’t apply.)

I know that is where my biggest edge is and has been for a years. After using some of my bankroll for building work for my house. I have been overly cautious with my staking and that is something I need to address.

Misc

Looking at my day to day results and the one recorded here.

I am -£123 less, not sure why to be honest. At a guess it is probably from following a few unrecorded tipster bets.

Thoughts Going Forward

As things return to a more normal state.

I will look to resume with the services I was previously using, which were Trade On Sports and FTS Racing. Have also been tracking a few tipsters that look very promising in the past few months which should also be solid additions.

Have to admit have the kids at home 24/7 has lead to a less structured approach with my betting and trading. Personally I thrive on structure so things do seem a little scattered at the moment and is one of the reasons I haven’t done any trading.

However overall I am happy with this month’s results.

Making A Million From Sports Betting And Trading – May Results

Sports are gradually returning and things are looking up from a sports betting/trading perspective.

Again my main focus this month was on casino offers but the return of German football has been a welcome one!

Sports Betting and Trading Challenge

Looking ahead June promises the return of the Premier League along with other football.

This brings more value betting opportunities and also matched betting opportunities which in turn should mean there is more profit to be made.

But for now let’s take a look at results from May in the ongoing making a million from the sports betting markets challenge.

Advantage Play – Casino Offers

Let’s start with where most of the profit came from in May.

In May I did 235 offers.

A total profit £1372 was made.

Another solid month of profit from casino offers and I got the chance to check out a new service Bonus Accumulator, which I was impressed with. They highlighted pretty much all the offers that I been previously manually working out and seem on top of finding as much value as possible from casino offers.

So going forward that will be the service that I use to exploit casino offers.

Casino Offers May

If you are still not taking advantage of casino offers and interested in leaning more.

Matched Betting – Sports Offers, Arbitrage, Value Betting

There were a few matched betting offers around and I managed to pick up some value bets.

Although it didn’t seem like the market was able to adjust to there being no crowd. So relying on the market price to indicate value might not have been the best idea.

You could see this as starting prices in football didn’t seem to mean much and there were massive adjustments made in-play after 10 mins in the match odds market.

During May I made 59 bets.

A loss of -£127 was made.

Sports Betting Results

In May I made a total of 24 bets.

A loss of £45 was made.

During May I had a look through my long term betting results as for the last year I have been a losing sports bettor.

I also delved deeper into my long term stats dating back to 2017.

Betting Results

From the graph I can see that I am performing well betting MMA and also in-play MMA/Football over the long term (This is shown as No Sport on Bettin.gs.)

Although the sample of bets isn’t huge it looks like my pre match football bets (red line on the graph) are not really making any money.

It makes sense going forward to increase my bet size on Mixed Martial Arts and leave betting pre-match on football alone. I am very confident in my edge betting MMA markets but obviously football markets are a lot sharper.

Hopefully this change should see a decent profit made over the coming year.

Services

Previously I had been using Trade On Sport and FTS Racing. I won’t be using these services until sport resumes in normal form. Both are good services and I am confident long term they will be profitable but during this period I want to be cautious.

My main focus is going to be on area’s that I am confident I have a large edge in ( Casino offers, mma betting, pre-match trading.)

Thoughts Going Forward

Got to admit I have been pretty disappointed with results this year after doing really well last year, I hoped that momentum would continue.

However at the end of the day it is only betting and with everything that’s happened I should really be grateful for everything that I have already. For a lot of people that live on this world there is no opportunity to make money from the sports betting world.

In fact there is very little opportunity for them at all.

Puts things into perspective, anyway moving on to June.

The return of the Premier League is sure to bring more matched betting offers to the table and should be some good pre-match trading opportunities.

Thanks for reading, hope you have a profitable June.

Making A Million From Sports Betting And Trading – February Results

Last month wasn’t the best start to the year as a very small profit was eeked out by the end of January.

It was nice to start a new month, February was a month where I was determined to make some progress towards the £1,000,000 profit target.

Lets take a look at how things went.

Sports Betting and Trading Challenge

Matched Betting – Sports Offers, Arbitrage, Value Betting

Its been a really good month from a value betting perspective.

Again very little matched betting going apart from the Bet365 inplay offer.

I did ramp up my sports arbitrage betting this month hammering a Mr Green account.

Didn’t land any 2ups with Bet365 which are always a good earner.

In February there were 348 matched betting offers and value bets.

A total profit of £2023 was made.

On to the casino results.

Got to admit this month I to start to feel quite jaded about grinding out casino offers.

It just becomes pretty mindless and unfulfilling when you do it day after especially when you go through tough periods.

On the flip side though you can still a get a decent hourly return. There are people in this world  doing hard labour for much much less and I am/was probably being a bit of a pussy.

Imagine telling some poor guy working in North Korean labour camp about feeling jaded making £25+ an hour playing casino games.

That thought quickly puts things in perspective.

In February I did 256 offers.

A total profit of £1192 was made.

Sports Betting Results

Sports Betting Results

Very low volume of sports bets this month.

Which was probably a combination of being unwell for a few weeks and the fact that I can’t seem to turn this bad run around at the moment.

Only 11 bets were made in February for a total loss of -£57.

Trade On Sports

Coming up to nearly six months with the Trade On Sports service now.

Its a service that I like but my results haven’t been the greatest lately.

Lets take a look at the results from the 2 systems that I currently follow.

Staking £50 per selection

Tennis Results – 39 selections in January, a loss of -£677 was made.

Staking £102 per selection.

Inplay Football Results – 22 selections a loss of  -£248 was made.

Total – -£925

So overall I am pretty much breakeven with TOS after a really strong NFL season where a profit of £920 was made.

(Trade On Sports official results will be different to mine due to missed bets, different prices taken on tennis.)

Below are the results in graph form since starting to follow the service.

Stick Or Bust?

Despite going through a rough period of results, I still intend to stick with Trade On Sports.

My initial plan was to go with the service for a year and then reasses things.

There is a plan in place that will enable the automation of the strategies that I follow.

Which would be a big plus for me and put aside the issue of missing out on selections due to family commitment etc.

Plus I know from the excellent blog daily25 that in sports betting there will be losing periods.

Even with services that are profitable long term. That’s just the reality of betting and something you have to come to terms with if you want to win long term.

Service Used

FTS Racing

Next up is FTS racing service which provides Betfair SP selections.

I have also included Ian’s horse racing podcast selections in the results.

Not a pretty graph.

Still early days with this service but a bloodbath in February puts the service into a negative overall now.

However again my plan is to stick with it for a full year and see things out before making any changes.

I think a lot of people jump on and off services very quickly. But your never going to time things perfectly and hit the good patches of variance each time.

Just got to ride it out and look at things over the longer term.

Thoughts Going Forward

It was nice to get a decent winning month in after January.

Hopefully the services that I follow will have stronger months going forward, which could push me through the £100k in total profit mark before the end of the year.

Happy with the amount of volume I put in this month.

Another high point was that I had the opportunity to write an article for Asktraders.com which was really cool.

You can read that article here.

Not much else to add really my betting/trading has become pretty rigid and boring nowadays but thats probably a positive.

Listened to a few interviews with Harry Findlay this month.

Thought it was interesting as he talks a lot about getting a “buzz” from betting still.

I’ll will be honest that something that i don’t get at all anymore.

Compared to when I started and every bet seemed to really matter.

Lets see what March brings, how has your betting been going on in 2020?

Making A Million From Sports Betting And Trading – January Results

2019 was a really solid year betting wise and I felt that I ran pretty well overall.

The start of 2020 however has given me a stark reminder about the realities of betting, sometimes your going to lose.

Lets take a look at the results for January!

Sports Betting and Trading Challenge

Matched Betting – Sports Offers, Arbitrage, Value Betting

It felt like January took a while to get going after Christmas and New Year.

Results were poor for matched betting and value betting. Didn’t get a sniff of a 2up and things just felt pretty flat throughout the whole month.

Despite in the last report writing that I was going to hammer some accounts with arbitrage betting I didn’t do a whole lot of sports arbitrage in Janaury.

Still did some arbitrage on restricted accounts but left money on the table by not taking advantage of newer accounts that are unused.

In January there were 381 matched betting offers and value bets.

A total loss of -£122 was made.

Betting And Trading Results - June Report

Sports Betting Results

My own betting hasen’t been going well for a while as little progress has been made in the last 7 months.

Well January was the worst month I can remeber from a betting perspective.

Pretty much everything lost.

Felt like I had a reverse midas touch where everything just turned to s***.

Man City came back from 0-1 down to go 2-1 up at home to Palace and blew it, Inter were dominating Lecce finally found a goal but then gave one back pretty soon after.

Pretty annoying but it is what it is, you just have to shake your head and move on.

In January I made 20 bets in total.

A total loss of -£852 was made.

My long term betting results still look pretty good (This graph starts from April 2017.)

But I am not going to lie this recent run of results has got me questioning my approach to football betting.

Trade On Sports

Not a great amount of volume for the Trade On Sports selections in January with NFL winding down and football being quieter then normal.

Lets take a look at the results from the 3 systems that I follow.

Staking between £50-£100 per selection

Tennis Results – 16 selections in January, a profit of £40 was made ( I mistakenly bet selections in the majors which is no longer the criteria for tennis bets)

NFL Results – 5 selections a loss of -£192 was made.

Trading

My trading this month wasn’t great. I started off by making a mistake which cost me £200 as I forgot to close a position on a horse racing selection.

The football markets seem to be a bit more volatile this season, thankfully I have other good pre match traders to talk with and they feel the same. So I know that its not just me trading poorly.

Not sure if its manipulation or a big syndicate prepared to go against the rest of the market.

However there used to be certain scenario’s in football where you could pretty guarantee where the odds were going to move.

One of those scenario’s was when a fringe player who hadn’t played for a team was in the starting line up for the first time.

When Tottenham played Liverpool there was a new name on the Tottenham teamsheet  “Tanganga.”

In previous years you could guarantee that on the back of this news Liverpool would get backed in pretty hard and it would be a pretty easy pre match trade.

This did not happen however Liverpool surprisingly drifted from 1.64 out to 1.7 and then came back in to 1.64 about 40 minutes later.

Really bizarre and there have been a few market moves this year that have left me kind of puzzled.

At the end of  January I had made a total profit of £330 from trading.

There is always the urge to change things up when results are poor.

But the truth is I am doing nothing differently to the 12 very profitable months that I just had in 2019.

I have been looking at other services and tipsters but there is still a lot more I could be doing with the FTS and Trade On Sports services.

February has started well and poor results in January have given me the motivation to put in more volume this month.

How has your start to 2020 been?

Decent profits? Struggled to get going?

Making A Million From Sports Betting And Trading – November Results

Huge Casino Win

Only one month remains in 2019 and so far its been a pretty good year.

The betting landscape keeps changing.

Matched betting offers seem to be drying up however there is still money to be made in the sports betting markets.

Lets take a look at results from November.

Sports Betting and Trading Challenge

Matched Betting – Sports Offers, Arbitrage, Value Betting

When I started this challenge I was mostly matched betting, doing some arbitrage and a little bit of value betting.

Two years in and that has completely flipped. The majority of my volume is value betting with some arbitrage betting and very little matched betting.

I wrote last month about having a decent think on the best way to utlise soft bookmaker accounts. Different bookmakers offer different opportunities but with the Unibet group I think just hammering arbs over a weekend is probably the best strategy there.

Bet365 seems like the only account worth saving for matched betting purposes at the moment.

I started looking much more at the horse racing markets and found a decent edge.

However what I will say is it is pretty much about finding patterns that repeat themselves in the market.

In total a profit of £1341 was made from trading.
