50K Betting And Trading Challenge – January Results

The first month of 2018 has flown by, was it a profitable one?

Matched Betting – Sports Offers, Accumulators, Arbitrage

I will start off with the lowest variance part of the portfolio first. In terms of offers and arbitrage bets this month the turnover was really good.

A total of 267 matched betting offers and arbitrage bets were made.

With a total profit of £1113 being made.

I really hammered every arb possible with accounts where I am promo banned. I still find even with accounts where I am limited to £50 stakes that you can squeeze a decent amount of value out of them.

Advantage Play – Casino Offers

The casino gods were not very kind this month. It seemed like a month were I would just wake up every day and lose money on the slots. Even though I know that I am doing everything right. I do feel like a bit of a degenerate gambler when these losing streaks happen.

Thankfully I can just look at my long term graph and see that the mathematics behind these offers work long term and its just a case of grinding past these break even/ losing periods.

This month I took part in 127 offers

I total profit of £60 was made.

Trading Results

One of my aims for 2018 was to spend more time trading. I did that this month.

A heavy focus of pre match trading and also trading the match odds markets at half time paid of over the course of the month.

When I first started pre match trading I used to try and trade every league possible. Without that much success. But I have found success just sticking to the Premier League and European competitions featuring English teams. Over time you find similar patterns emerging again and again.

Then it just becomes a matter of waiting.

In January there were a total of 24 trades made.

A profit of £479 was made.

Sports Betting Results

Sports betting didn’t go well in January. A big loss betting on Quentin Jackson to beat Chael Sonnen did the most damage. Generally this month my mixed martial arts betting did poorly and the random football bets on in-play markets didn’t do much better.

There were 13 bets in January

A loss of -£315 was made.

Summary

Been a fairly mediocre first month of profit in 2018.

That target of £50k profit within a year is looking far off with 3 months left. I would need three £10k plus months of profit to achieve it.

Before I started this challenge I had two record months with casino offers bringing in over £3000 alone. I am still waiting for that really good month where casino offers go right and big profits are made. There is a small chance I could hit a big win and get close to £50k, in the meantime I’ll just keep grinding and see where were at in April.

I am happy with my trading results this month. FA cup games always tend to be an area where I do well as the market always has a question mark over what players will be fielded. February will be a month where I look to maintain a similar trading volume.

Outside of my betting and trading portfolio. One of my goals was to increase traffic to this site through other mediums. In January I got round to creating a video How I Make Money From Sports Betting

It has around 100 views at the moment. But its trickling through extra traffic to the site and gives me an avenue of potential traffic to build on. I don’t find speaking on video particularly enjoyable however it is nice to something else to focus on and create content for.

All in all January has felt like a pretty average month and it’s flown by. Hopefully February will be a month where the casino offers start to bring in bigger profits.

    • Not anymore.
I had some success with swing trading and taking early morning trades.
However I found I was trying to juggle too much and am sticking to football trading at the moment.
Once my daughter starts school I will have more time on my hands.
So it might be something I return to in the future.

  1. I have been admiring your attempt to make £50k in a year, but it looks like you may hit £25k maybe, still that is a wonderful return! Got a question though what is the most profitable and easiest to make more if you had say £5k.

    • Hi Mike

Thanks for the kind words. If I hit £25k I will be quite happy.
Although 50k was the goal in hindsight it looks to have been too much.
I think largely it will be a case of hitting a good run with the plus EV casino offers.

      With a £5k starting bankroll?
The easiest way is matched betting but this dependent on how many accounts you have and whether you are limited on any of them.
Casino offers are easy to do. You just have to be prepared to go through losing runs and have a bankroll that can sustain.

So yeah I wouldn’t do much different to what I am doing in the £50k challenge. It’s just a case of looking at where you can scale things up and compound your bankroll.
